Born from the Stars:
Moissanite
An exquisitely beautiful gemstone that offers a truly eye-catching alternative to traditional mined diamonds. With remarkable durability and a superior refractive index, moissanite delivers unparalleled fire and brilliance for a fraction of the cost—destined to shine for generations.
A Discovery in the Craters
In 1893, Nobel Prize-winning French scientist Henri Moissan discovered something extraordinary while examining rock samples from a meteor crater in Canyon Diablo, Arizona. He initially believed he had stumbled upon a trove of diamonds due to their unmistakable shine.
Further investigation revealed a completely new mineral—silicon carbide. Because naturally occurring moissanite is incredibly rare, today’s brilliant gems are meticulously crafted in state-of-the-art laboratories over a painstaking 2 to 3-month process.
The Science of Sparkle
Many see more sparkle, fire, and brightness from a moissanite than from a diamond. This is due to its unique optical properties:
- Double Refractivity: It bends light twice as much as a diamond, doubling the brightness.
- Superior Dispersion: Features greater iridescence and "fire" (colorful flashes of light).
The Advantages of Moissanite
Why modern couples are increasingly choosing this stunning eco-friendly diamond alternative for their bespoke pieces.
Accessible Luxury
Spend up to 90% less than the cost of a mined diamond without compromising on color, clarity, or size. Experience genuine affordability paired with premium quality.
Ethical Origins
Removed from unethical mining practices, our lab-grown moissanite is renowned for its conflict-free nature and sustainable engineering. Sparkle with total peace of mind.
Seriously Durable
Ranking 9.25 on the Mohs scale with incredible tensile strength, moissanite is less susceptible to chipping than diamonds. A visibly flawless heirloom built to last forever.
Considerations
A Distinctive Rainbow Fire
Because it is doubly refractive, moissanite emits a colorful, rainbow shimmer. While highly sought after, experts can distinguish this from the stark white sparkle of a natural diamond.
Warm Undertones
While we curate strictly D, E, or F (colorless) graded stones, some inherently larger moissanites can occasionally project very subtle warm (yellow or green) undertones under certain lighting.
Exceptional Quality
Graded on the 4Cs
Just like mined diamonds, moissanite is meticulously evaluated. DiamondTrov exclusively offers colorless stones (D-F) with high clarity (VS1+) and Excellent cuts.
